At Solitaire Steel & Engineering LLP, we adhere to the latest EN Standards for rolled aluminum products, ensuring that we deliver the highest quality materials to our customers. The older BS1470 standard has now been replaced by nine key EN standards that regulate aluminum’s technical conditions, mechanical properties, and tolerances.
For those familiar with the older BS1470 standard, here are some key differences in the EN standards:
The thickness tolerances for cold-rolled aluminum vary by alloy and are split into two groups:
Alloy Group I
Alloy Group II
The thickness tolerances vary according to the width of the material, as shown below for Group I and Group II alloys:
Thickness (mm) | Tolerance (mm) +/- (Group I) | Tolerance (mm) +/- (Group II) |
---|---|---|
0.20 to 0.40 | 0.02 to 0.05 | 0.03 to 0.06 |
0.41 to 1.00 | 0.03 to 0.08 | 0.03 to 0.09 |
1.10 to 3.50 | 0.04 to 0.17 | 0.05 to 0.19 |
For hot-rolled plate, thickness tolerances range from 0.28mm for plates with a thickness of 2.5mm to 1.80mm for plates with a thickness of 100mm.
Flatness tolerances are significantly tighter under the EN standards. For example, cold-rolled aluminum sheets with thicknesses from 0.50mm to 6.00mm have maximum deviations of 5mm to 10mm over a 2500mm length.
Solitaire Steel & Engineering LLP delivers high-quality aluminum products that meet international standards. Our rolled aluminum products are inspected and tested to ensure they meet the tight tolerances and quality requirements defined by EN485 standards.
